Scary Fairgrounds Run

So anyone who knows me know that I prefer the light to the dark.  Not that i'm scared of the dark, but I really really dislike the dark.  I would rather step on the fluffy bathmat outside my shower with wet feet, than go out in the dark.  That should speak volumes of the fact that I suggested that we get a night run in prior to the 3 Days at the Fair run.  I will be running into the night both Friday and Saturday night during this event.  I mentioned this to KK and she was on board.  So off to the Sussex County Fairgrounds we went.  Headlamps in hand...er...on head, and some serious mental toughness ready to go.  yeah, out the door went the mental toughness with the first turning of a corner into pitch blackness.  It was everything I could do to not find a corner, crouch down and start rocking back and forth while sucking my thumb praying for daylight!!

Around every corner was a shadow that sat there mocking me.  Saying, " Shauna, you know you're scared so I'm going to creep across the ground towards you, and strike as soon as you run past!"  WTF!! So when KK says, "Hey, is that someone standing over there"?  I basically grab her and push her ahead of me and have a heart attack!! Apparently she was referring to the car parked in front of the building where we parked where where she thought someone was standing.  Man oh man!!

We got in 6 miles of truly terrifying running.  I can safely say that I won't EVER be doing that voluntarily again.  When 3 Days gets here, it will take all the mental stability that I can muster to get it done, but I won't like a second of it.
